France has advised its citizens to temporarily leave Mali «as soon as possible», as armed groups impose a siege on the capital, Bamako. French authorities have expressed concern over the situation and strongly urged nationals not to delay their departure. It was previously reported that the humanitarian situation in the capital has worsened due to the blockade.
